Allen Americans Agree To Deal With Defensemen Turner Ottenbreit

On Tuesday October 27th, the Allen Americans announced the signing of Canadian defensemen Turner Ottenbreit. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. Ottenbreit returns to the hockey club following a season that saw him make an impact at the both the AHL and ECHL levels.

He split 2019-20 between the Allen Americans and Iowa Wild. In his 17 games with the Americans, Ottenbreit recorded amassed 11 points, having racked up one goal along with 10 assists.

A native of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Ottenbreit began his pro hockey career in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage. At six-foot-four and 205 pounds, his signing brings additional skill as well as size to the blue line for Allen.

In a statement from Steve Martinson on Thursday, head coach of the Allen Americans, he said of the team’s latest signing, “Turner’s combination of skill and toughness makes for a rock-solid defensemen. He plays a physical style of hockey against the opposing team’s top players.”

Ottenbreit joins a pair of defensemen in Cody Corbett, Ben Carroll, Cole Fraser and Les Lancaster. The Americans are set to partake in a 72-game season starting December 11th. They take on the Oilers in their season opener. Allen will play their home opener on December 18th against the Rapid City Rush.
