Adirondack Thunder Drop Morning Game At Hands Of Reading Royals

READING, PA — It was education day here in Reading, PA, as the North Division leading Royals once again defeated Adirondack by a 6-1 final. With the win, they have now won five out of their six meetings against the Thunder. With such an irregular puck drop, getting the early lead was the key objective, and Adirondack did managed to on a goal from Alex Carrier who buried a rebound net front, as the Thunder opened the scoring.

Looking strong in the opening twenty, they played a solid second period, and their penalty kill looked the best that it has in some time. As it was Education Day, the Thunder failed to learn anything, falling asleep again in the middle frame, as Trevor Gooch put the puck by Brandon Kasel, putting Reading on the board and knotting the game up at one apiece. Scoring at the frame’s 9:02 mark, it was the start of six unanswered goals from the Royals.

Not so fun fact, they also gave up six unanswered goals to the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday night in Glens Falls. It didn’t take the Royals long to start their route after the first goal, as Thomas Ebbing scored just 22 seconds later before a power play goal put in the net by Kenny Hausinger. Ahead 3-1 at that point, Mark Millman finished the period with a goal of his own.

Adirondack ended up getting outshot 19-4 in the period, and if you’re thinking they’d come alive in the third period, you’d be wrong, as both Ebbing and Gooch tallied their second respectively, finalizing a blowout victory on home ice. To put this in perspective, the Thunder had nine shots in the first twenty minutes, and only put 10 on net through the rest of the contest. Once again, Adirondack failed to win two straight games.

The Thunder return to action on Saturday, as they square off on Super Bowl Weekend against the hometown Railers.
