The Adirondack Thunder struck their second trade of the offseason on Tuesday as they acquired forward Peter MacArthur from the Orlando Solar Bears for future considerations. MacArthur signed with Orlando in July after spending last season with Pustertal/Val Pusteria in Italy.
Thunder Bring Back Fan Favorite
This is a win-win move for the Adirondack Thunder. You bring in a 35-year-old forward who’s displayed great numbers with the hockey club and can be a huge presence in the Thunder locker room. Adirondack has guys like Matt Salhany, Mike Szmatula and John Edwardh who are proven goal scorers and can allow a guy like MacArthur to play third-line minutes and not have any pressure on being the guy to get the job done offensively. It’s only a matter of time until we see how much Peter has left in the tank before hanging up the skates.
MacArthur is currently the second all-time in points (144) and assists (99) for the Thunder, as well as being fourth all-time in goals (45). When MacArthur joined the Thunder in 2015-16, he would be appointed as team captain and would remain in that role until 2017. He then joined the Allen Americans for a season before re-joining the Thunder as a player-assistant coach. In 227 games, the lefty has tallied 209 points, scoring 68 goals and 141 assists.
