⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Jake Allen
The 2019 Stanley Cup Champions handed the Edmonton Oilers their second straight loss on Wednesday night. Blues backup goaltender Jake Allen was given the start against the Edmonton Oilers and did a great job shutting them down. Allen let in two goals, but stopped 32 shots, earning himself a .941 SV%.
It was arguably Allen’s best performance of the season so far and was the first time all season where he ended the game above a .900 SV%. It was also Allen’s third win of the season.
⭐️⭐️ – Alex Pietrangelo
Jake Allen may have been one of the Blues keys to defeating the Oilers, but Alex Pietrangelo was the other. Pietrangelo had a three-point night, scoring one goal and adding two assists in his team’s 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues. He recorded the primary assist on the Blues first goal scored by Jayden Schwartz which tied the game up at one apiece.
He scored the next goal to give his team the lead in the second period. His third point was a primary assist on St. Louis’ last goal of the game which was socred by Ivan Barbashev on the empty net. Pietrangelo played 22:12 of ice time which was the third highest total on the Blues.
⭐️ – Henrik Lundqvist
Wednesday night’s win over the Detroit Red Wings was a vintage performance by the King. Lundqvist was at his best against the Red Wings, allowing just one goal on 36 shots. His 35 saves earned him a .972 SV% which was his highest total of the season so far.
His performance against the Red Wings marked his third win of the season and was the Rangers fourth win in their last six games. Overall, it was great to see the King play like the King.
