⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Nikita Kucherov
The Tampa Bay Lightning have had a rough start to the season, but on Thursday night against the New York Rangers, they looked just like their former selves. The Lightning beat the Rangers 9-4 and scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game’s first frame against Tampa Bay. The Lightning were dominant all game and perhaps the most dominant was Nikita Kucherov.
Kucherov has had an unexpectedly slow start to the season, but he looked just like his 2018-2019 self against the Rangers with a four point night. Kucherov scored one goal and added three assists in his team’s blowout win over the Rangers.
⭐️⭐️ – Leon Draisaitl
The Edmonton Oilers dynamic duo were back at it again on Thursday tearing up the opposing Avalanche. This time, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl tore apart the dominant Colorado Avalanche. Draisaitl had a breakout night, recording a total of five points to set himself four points ahead of Connor McDavid.
This would see the alternate captain take the league lead in points with 41. All five of the former third overall picks points were registered on assists as he played a significant part in 5/6 of Edmonton’s goals.
⭐️ – Connor McDavid
It was a career night for Connor McDavid as the Edmonton Oilers opened their two-game homestand. His six-point night was the highest single-game point total in his entire career while it also put his team above the visiting Colorado Avalanche. McDavid recorded a hat trick and added three assists to his stats line as well.
While his hat trick led the Oilers to victory, it was also his second of the season thus far as well as his second in just three games played. McDavid is on a six-game point streak in which he has recorded 14 points in that span. McDavid’s six-points total came on just 17:55 minutes of ice-time.
