Scouting Notes:

It comes as no surprise that Francis is one of the smaller players in the draft, but I don’t think that will hurt his overall value. He’s coming off a very strong season with the Screaming Eagles in Cape Breton, NS where he managed to rack up 24 goals scored and 48 assists for 72 points. He did so while having played in 61 games in eastern Canada. Francis has really good hands and I think for a league that is starting to see some smaller and skilled guys entering the league, it certainly plays to Francis’s upside.

I don’t see a guy like Francis getting chosen until early in the draft’s third round and I think it’s gonna be a team who’s looking to add another winger as opposed to drafting for the best player available. However, it comes as no surprise that he’s at least two years away from any AHL or NHL hockey seeing that this past season was only his first having scored 20 goal season after three in the Q. Francis, 18, will fit in as a nice third or fourth line piece in the future.
