Rossi is entering the 2020 NHL Draft as one of the more skilled puck handlers. He is primarily a playmaker and puck possession player, but he also has a quality shot when he sees fit to use it. With an undersized frame like his, he has a lot more control with the puck and since his centre of gravity is lower, he often maintains it longer than his peers.
Even though he’s small at 5’9, Rossi is rarely overwhelmed by bigger opponents and manages to protect the puck well. His offensive awareness is what separates him from other potential top 10 prospects. He sees plays happen before they do and is often in the middle of scoring chances. He is one of the more dangerous players to come out of the OHL in previous years.
In only 56 games, Rossi managed to eclipse the 120 point mark and was nine points ahead of the next closest player, Cole Perfetti. Rossi is a catalyst on the ice and is very much a reliable quarterback on the power play with a total of 38 points, 31 of those being assists.
He is expected to return to Ottawa for at least one more year and could very well lead the league in points as a 19-year-old. He has all the tools to be an impact player once he turns pro and could help any of the teams selecting in the top 10.
