After hearing the comments from Taylor Hall he is the player that doesn’t understand or is in touch with the fans that go and watch his games etc. What fans were booing was the fact that John Hynes’ defence is very broken defensively and Cory Schneider let in seven goals. Taylor Hall has certainly given fans more reasons to be upset at the coach, and him.
Both Hynes and Hall are the two big elephants in the locker room that are the cause and the effects to day-to-day game chemistry. Taylor Hall, verbally and mindset wise, just seems like he doesn’t want to be in New Jersey. Fans have realized after Hall’s Hart Trophy season and his big injury last season began the beginning of Taylor Hall’s stock drop. However, Devils fans alike are more united in getting a big return on investment and a return on Hall’s equitable play over his Devils tenure.
I, for one, looked at the Matt Duchene trade to Ottawa as an example of a player wanting out. However, Taylor Hall is a far more gifted and talented player than Duchene. But if the Devils locker room can be cleaned out with Hall traded, then maybe the mindset of this team can focus on themselves and a firing of John Hynes will occur.
What Ray Shero is looking for in a big package for Taylor Hall would require a Bowen Byram, Philip Broberg type defensemen. Ray Shero might also want a Rasmus Ristolainen or Jake McCabe type veteran defender in that deal. Also two early 2020 draft picks would sweeten the pot for the New Jersey Devils.
This is something that might suit Hall going back to Edmonton to a new management there and a team that suits his needs. However, Colorado seems to be interesting with the stacked defense they have and a boat load of highly offensive linemates like Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog. As well, having Mikko Rantanen currently on the injured reserve can entice Joe Sakic to make a move.
Getting either Bowen Byram or Philip Broberg would greatly help the New Jersey Devils defence corps because you’ll have Ty Smith coming up from the minors and likely making the team or going to the AHL. However, trading Hall as soon as possible would make New Jersey’s chemistry more positive and hopefully turn things around.
