Alex Jaeckle Re-Ups With Adirondack Thunder

The Adirondack Thunder announced on Thursday that they have re-signed defencemen Alex Jaeckle for the 2020-21 season. “Big body, we are trying to get a bigger D core” said head coach Alex Loh. Jaeckle, from St. Clair Shores, Michigan, weighs in at 198 pounds and stands tall at six-foot-three.

Jaeckle Returns To Adirondack

Jaeckle was acquired by the Thunder from the Norfolk Admirals back in January as part of the three-team trade which also landed John Edwardh from the Cincinnati Cyclones. He would appear in 21 games with the Thunder before the season was halted due to COVID-19. The 2020-21 season will be Jaeckle’s third in the ECHL. Through 65 games played, Jaeckle has amassed 11 points, having done so on three goals along with eight assists.

In those 21 games last season, we saw some bright spots from the right-handed shooter. However, he did have some issues cracking the lineup at times. I do expect him to break out this season seeing that he could be part of the top six defensive core.

Expect Jaeckle to be a guy who can net five goals and put up around 20 points. Prior to signing in pro hockey, both Jaeckle and Nick Hutchison spent time at Canisius College. While the two didn’t play together, they both developed with the Golden Griffins hockey program.

Jaeckle’s sister, Kelsey, spent four years at Michigan State University where she scored 46 goals along with 48 assists. Having played in 85 games, this made for a total of 94 points. Jaeckle’s mom is currently the coach of a 16U local girls hockey team in Michigan.
