Some of the best young hockey players from all around Western Canada and the United States will be waiting anxiously to hear their names called out at the 2019 WHL Draft on Thursday. In spirit of the draft, I thought what better way to get into the excitement of the draft then to do my very own mock selection here at The Puck Authority. The draft below is not based on where I actually think these players will be selected.
Some will likely fall as they have university commitments and others simply may not be as highly regarded by teams. The order of players below is ranked based purely on skill and potential.
The Winnipeg Ice will come into the draft holding the first overall selection. The Ice are widely expected to select Matthew Savoie with the first overall selection, but may choose to go in a different direction considering the chances of Savoie playing for the team are low. After being denied exceptional status, Savoie committed to the University Of Denver of the NCAA.
With that being said, enjoy The Puck Authority’s 2019 WHL Draft Rankings. If you want to discuss my rankings with me or have any questions or thoughts that you would like to share, feel free to shoot me a DM on Twitter @David_Ciss.
